Eeeek! has it really been six months since I posted last? Well, I FINALLY have made the great leap and got myself a good little point-n-shoot, a Canon 880 to be exact. Here's some not-so-recent work that I've done in the past nine months or so.

New things with Emily: I'm postponing my Master's of Arts in Teaching until March. Hopefully will get outta

school and be teaching high school in New Orleans by Fall 2010. I'll start applying to schools for my MFA 2012 (New England-ish places).

Right now I'm waiting tables at the local Italian greasy spoon and painting nights. Kinda romantic, right? Classic starving artist.

I don't have any recent work to post just yet, though I am taking some images tonight so that I can throw together a flyer for my upcoming tiny little still life show in two weeks. January 30th, yay! It's been a good three months since I've had my work shown to the public.

Above all else, I will try and work with what you want. If you would like an unique size or for me to try a medium outside of pastel, charcoal, or oil I'll be up for the challenge, (except pencil) but obviously I won't be able to give a very specific estimate on price. Please e-mail me with questions because I hardly look on this blog as often as I should.

I don't have a TON of experience with pets, but I'm also up for those.

As always, if you're not satisfied with your final result you DO NOT have to pay. However, any size above 16 x 20 is going to require a deposit down (usually, fifty dollars) for my time and the expense of the materials.

Pricing is dependent on four variables: medium, size, number of people, and whether you want me to work from life or a photo. Here are a few standard example prices. These are listed from my favorite to least favorite kind of piece to do:

This was actually a study for an intaglio print. I love the drawing though. So kinetic. Wolf's carbon pencil on paper. 18x 16 maybe? not a great photo.

This was the first drawing I did after a two month hiatus. I didn't have a lot of expectations for it so I gave up control - and that's exactly when you capture the purest essence of a portrait.

She has the face of an angel and the mouth of a sailor. That's what I'll say about her. Chalk pastel. 22x30. Actually, she and Megan are both pictured at the top of this page.

These first two are a little warped. We made a preliminary drawing of the skeleton and then layered the life model on top. One of my favorite excercises though.

These are pretty much all done in vine or compressed charcoal. 30-45 minute poses.
